Netherurd
24th - 26th August 2007
SS 007 was a Senior Section Camp was held at Netherurd from 24th - 26th August 2007. The option of camping or staying indoors was offered, with everyone coming together for activities. The theme of the weekend was The Right to be Happy, from the Right Now! resource. Activities included climbing, drama, healthy eating, In4mers and raft building – something for everyone.
The highlight of the weekend was a large dinner followed by a ceilidh on the Saturday night, held in the hall of Netherurd’s Garden House. The chocolate fountain proved particularly popular, whilst the charity silent auction raised a significant amount for good causes.
On Sunday morning a wide game was played involving playing cards, frisbees and dubious rule-interpretation! The weekend was rounded off with a Guides’ Own, at which various performances were given by participants of the drama sessions during the weekend and everyone was given something to think about.
Four Polaris members attended the camp: Claire as assistant Caterer and Suzie, Emma and Kirsten as participants. It was a great chance for us to spread the wonderful word of Polaris, both by giving a short presentation to the whole camp and by informally chatting with people, answering questions and being very enthusiastic. Though many of the people most interested in Polaris were below our age limit, we hope that they will remember us and come to an event as soon as they reach that magical and special age!
