Blair Castle, Perthshire
11th June 2006
It was a beautiful, sunny summer's day when Guiders from all over Scotland assembled at Blair Castle in Perthshire for Liz Pitcairn's Grand reception. Looking barely recognisable dressed up for the occasion we were welcomed and piped into the castle by Guides from Perth and Kinross.
The grand ballroom is very impressive with lots of armour and other relics mounted on the walls. There was also a display about the links between Blair Castle and Guiding. There have been several huge camps in the grounds throughout the years and Duchess of Atholl is still involved in Girlguiding Perth and Kinross.
Liz Pitcairn welcomed us to the castle and expressed her gratitude for all the work Guiders do within their units every week. A small band made up of some local Guides treated us to some suitably appropriate Scottish music while we were served our buffet style lunch. While we enjoyed the delicious food we were able to chat to other guests and do some Polaris promotion.
As we were leaving Liz Pitcairn presented us all with a beautiful stained glass of the new Scottish thistle as a thank you. The sun was still blazing down as we posed for a couple of photos to prove that even I can look smart on occasion.
